American Airlines is rolling out a series of digital upgrades designed to give travelers more control over their journeys, from booking flights to navigating airport delays.

The new features include expanded payment options, improved tools for managing travel disruptions and easier access to TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID.

"Technology should remove complexity from travel, not add to it," said American Airlines Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden. "Our goal is to build digital experiences that simplify travel and give customers more confidence every step of the way."

Among the biggest updates is the addition of Venmo as a payment option on aa.com, alongside expanded Apple Pay availability across more booking paths. The airline said the changes reflect growing demand for mobile-friendly payment options, with Venmo support planned for the American Airlines app in the future.

American has also enhanced its digital disruption tools, allowing customers to receive more detailed information about delays and cancellations through the app, email, text messages and aa.com. Travelers can rebook flights through self-service tools and, when eligible, access hotel, meal and transportation vouchers without waiting in line or calling customer service.

Additional improvements include automated meal vouchers for eligible AAdvantage® members and automatic check-in for qualifying passengers on rebooked itineraries, helping travelers recover from disruptions more quickly.

At the airport, American continues expanding TSA PreCheck Touchless ID. More than 2 million customers have already enrolled in the program, which allows eligible travelers to verify their identity at participating security checkpoints without presenting a physical ID or boarding pass. Beginning next month, customers will also be able to opt in during online check-in through aa.com. The service is now available at all American hub airports and more than 60 locations across its network.

The airline has also improved the travel experience for some international itineraries by allowing customers connecting between American and select partner airlines to check in and receive boarding passes for all flight segments directly through the American Airlines app.

The enhancements are part of American's broader effort to create a more seamless travel experience by making booking, airport navigation and trip management easier from departure through arrival.
