FTA Advisor Spotlight: Lara Dorman — 2 Moms Travel

family travel advisor

When Lara Dorman started her blog, 2 Moms Travel, LGBT travel with kids wasn’t as prevalent as it is today. But her passion and expertise led to such popular itineraries, Dorman turned it into a travel company.

Dorman’s passion for travel began when she was young, studying foreign languages, attending different language camps and being an exchange student in Toluca, Mexico during high school. Now, she’s taken her children to nearly 25 countries, exploring everywhere from their backyard of Glacier National Park to tiny villages in Vietnam.

What inspired you to become a travel advisor?

I became a travel agent because I’ve always had a passion for exploring the world and creating unforgettable experiences. Planning trips for family and friends showed me how much I enjoy the details—finding the right destination, balancing budgets, and tailoring the experience so everyone feels included. That joy inspired me to help others design their own adventures.

What are your travel specialties or areas of expertise?

My specialties are multi-family travel to Europe and Africa. I enjoy helping families of all sizes plan trips that balance group needs with memorable, personalized experiences. I also have expertise in African travel—crafting safaris, cultural journeys, and unique adventures across the continent that connect travelers with both nature and local communities

What is your most popular travel destination among clients?

The most popular destinations among my clients are Greece and Turkey. Many travelers are drawn to the unique blend of history, culture, and stunning coastlines these countries offer. From exploring ancient ruins and vibrant bazaars to relaxing on the Mediterranean and Aegean seas, Greece and Turkey consistently stand out as client favorites.

What’s the most valuable tip or trick someone has shared with you that makes planning family travel easier?

The best tip I’ve received is to build in flexibility—especially with kids. Instead of planning every hour, I leave space in the itinerary for rest, free play, or spontaneous adventures. It keeps everyone happier and reduces stress.

What is one tech tool you consistently use when planning family travel?

One tool I consistently use is Virtuoso, because it connects me with exclusive family-friendly experiences, accommodations, and perks that really elevate the trip. It allows me to customize each family’s journey with special touches they wouldn’t find on their own.
