International Trade Administration’s June 2025 Data

International Trade Administration June 2025 data

The International Trade Administration recently released its latest numbers on international travel, and June 2025 was a mixed bag.

On one hand, fewer international visitors made their way to the U.S.—about 5.28 million people total, which is down 6.2% from last June and still only 83.4% of what we saw pre-COVID in June 2019.

Where were those visitors coming from? Mexico led the way (1.38 million), followed by Canada (1.1 million), the U.K. (284,000), India (214,000), and Brazil (163,000). Together, those five countries made up nearly 60% of all international arrivals.

Business travel painted a slightly different picture. The U.K. sent the most work-related travelers (about 45,000), followed by India, Japan, Germany, and South Korea. And for students, China topped the list with just over 10,000, followed by India, South Korea, Brazil, and Taiwan.

Meanwhile, Americans were heading out in large numbers. More than 11.47 million U.S. citizens traveled abroad in June, a 2.5% bump from last year and nearly 110% of pre-pandemic levels.

Roughly 49% of those departures were to Mexico and Canada, with Mexico alone seeing 3.63 million U.S. visitors (nearly a third of all departures). However, departures to Canada actually dipped 7.2% compared to last year. Europe was the second most popular destination overall, making up 26.6% of departures with just over 3 million U.S. travelers in June—a modest 1.4% increase from 2024.
