
The February 2025 Travel Price Index showed a 0.2% decline in prices for travel related goods and services on a monthly basis. On both a monthly and annual basis, travel prices grew less than overall prices on a seasonally adjusted basis. The TPI increased 1.9% versus February of 2024, compared with an increase of 2.8% for the overall CPI over the same period. In February, airline fares decreased 4.0%, while gas costs continued to decline and were 3.2% below levels of the year prior. Prices for recreation and food and beverage (away from home) were up 0.6% and 0.4% respectively, a little higher than the overall CPI inflation rate of 0.2%, and remain higher on a year-over-year basis as well.
